Chapter history
Eta Alpha Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. was founded and
Chartered on August 7, 1979, in Pomona, California. The founders of Eta
Alpha Alpha being men who take seriously the principles of Manhood,
Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift saw a need for such ideals in the
Inland Empire.

The birth of Eta Alpha Alpha was the vision of the following chartered
members:

For over four decades, Eta Alpha Alpha has been involved in many
philanthropic activities in the San Gabriel Valley and the Inland Empire. The Chapter has
prepared numerous food baskets for needy families during holiday seasons; sponsored youth for
such various activities as the Ontario auto races, little leagues, tutorial
programs and career days in area grade schools to assist the youth of the Inland Empire in basic
skills, Youth Leadership Conferences, The Christmas in April Program, and provided annual
scholarships to deserving high school graduates. Several of the scholarship recipients have
received advanced degrees, including doctoral degrees.

The Eta Alpha Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. has always honored
many outstanding citizens throughout the Inland Empire, including many notable individuals over
the years.

Mr. Walter (Pete) West was one such notable and named Omega Psi Phi Fraternity’s 12th District
Omega Citizen of the Year.

In 1988, Eta Alpha Alpha in conjunction with Zeta Tau Chapter of Pasadena,
CA hosted the 43rd Annual 12th District Meeting. This marked the
first time any Chapter in the Inland Empire has accepted such a challenge.
The result set a precedent, and the meeting became a standard in financial
management which is still followed today. Eta Alpha Alpha has since partnered with Pi Rho
Chapter of Riverside, CA hosting various events serving and uplifting local communities.
Although past Chapter achievements have been significant, the future goal of Eta
Alpha Alpha is to increase these efforts to meet an even larger segment of
the Community. The chapter’s current leadership is grounded in ‘scholarship and education’ and
committed to expanding it’s focus on ‘Mentorship and Fatherhood’ programs aimed at young men
in need of compassion and direction.
